a short conclusion
Monday, May. 17, 2004 @ 4:34 p.m.

we're going to have a party.

we've never had parties in the past. Ryan's father and evil witch of a stepmother didn't even allow friends to visit with him as a child and the last party held by my asking was in grade five and featured power ranger loot bags.

today we began to compile our invitation list. there's room enough here to accomodate any number under fifty but we certainly don't have fifty people we want to invite. a word we established for the atmosphere was cozy. my unilateral contribution to the list was especially cozy: Amy, Paul. when prompted, i added a few co-workers who are not yet completely insane, but even if i do get around to giving them their invitations, i'm certain they won't attend.

some of my friends like wine and cheese and others, shiny objects or christian fundamentalism. some of Ryan's friends like women and beer and yet more like politics and activism.

the reason we don't have parties, it would seem, is evident. we're friends with eleven kinds of clashing misfits. and worse: with some very well socialized individuals. it should be nothing short of torment to bring them together.

june 18th. keep it open.
